Don Lemon Arrested: MAGAReport 1/30/26

Lemon's arrest is the top news on the forums today and the response is extreme

Don Lemon was arrested today for covering a protest that disrupted a service at a St. Paul, MN church whose pastor leads an ICE office. Lemon said, as he was live streaming at the event, that he was there as a journalist, not an activist. He interviewed people on the scene while broadcasting to his YouTube channel.

He was one of four independent journalists arrested today for their coverage of the protest. The DoJ had tried to have them arrested earlier, but a judge refused. The government eventually secured grand jury indictments.

I was in Minneapolis that day and talked with Don earlier that afternoon when we were both covering the protests outside the Whipple Federal Building. From there, he left and went to cover a group of protesters who entered the Cities Church, whose pastor leads an ICE field office, and disrupted a service. If that group of protesters had invited me, as press, to follow them and cover what they were doing, I would have gone along, too, without hesitation. What journalist wouldn’t go cover something like that?

Lemon’s arrest is the main topic of discussion on the MAGA forums I monitor today. Four of the six flagged discussion threads are about the arrest, and there are more trending threads about it. There are hundreds and hundreds of comments about it.

Don Lemon is gay and black. The discussion is overwhelmingly jokes and memes about prison rape. I don’t feel comfortable sharing most of them. You can go look for them yourself on patriots . win if you really want to see.

To give a sampling of the tamer comments, one thread is titled “When life gives you a Lemon you arrest Lemon AIDS”. Another has this discussion:

Threaded through these discussions is a sense from some that the non-MAGA public may react poorly to these arrests. It is not that they think Lemon shouldn’t have been arrested; it’s that they think outsiders will think it is a First Amendment violation, that the government has gone too far, and they will turn against Trump. Here are a few of those interactions which includes some enthusiasm for political violence.

  • Dems are gunning for another Kent State, where students burned a building, spat, disparaged and assaulted guardsmen. Guardsmen deployed tear gas that blew away in the wind. Guardsmen fired 67 rounds in 13 seconds killing Allison Krause, Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Scheuer and William Schroeder. Nine were wounded, one permanently paralyzed.
