MAGAReport for 8/2/2024 - Kyle Rittenhouse Becomes the Enemy

Rittenhouse announced he would not vote for Trump, turning the MAGA community against him

Things remain relatively static over on the pro-Trump forums. The anti-Harris misogyny and racism continues unabated, along with anti-trans rhetoric, Big Lie election-stealing worries, and Secret Service bashing (a favorite topic after the Trump shooting a few weeks ago).

But the big topic of the day is that Kyle Rittenhouse announced yesterday on Twitter that he would not be voting for Trump and instead would be writing in Ron Paul. I am including a screenshot of the post that kicked this off just so we can meet Kyle’s PTSD service dog, Milo, a golden retriever who is clearly a very good boy who is dubious of this whole affair.

Rittenhouse later posted a video explaining that he would indeed be writing in Ron Paul because Trump has a bad Second Amendment record.

The MAGAs, who had previously embraced him as a golden boy, are SO MAD! They are calling him disloyal, stupid, and lobbing some very normal accusations at him:

One interesting bit amongst all the invective is that there is some genuine discussion of Trump’s policies, disagreement with what he did in his first term, and some (slightly delusional) reasoning that he strategically signed some gun control legislation (bump stocks) in order to derail discussion of more aggressive laws. Still, this kind of talk is rare on these forums:

• …Trump fucked up on 2A, on not pardoning Assange or Snowden, and in playing nice his first two years when he could actually get things done with a Republican congress

  • Also COVID relief which catapulted inflation.

    Still voting Trump.

Overall, there’s a growing sense of panic in the MAGA camp, and they seem to be hoping that more rage posting and hate-based anger will gain them some traction. There continue to be no organized plans for demonstrations or violence.
