A good moment for journalists to do up a deep, deep dive into Trump’s efforts to never leave the White House by way of a false national emergency and martial law declaration and brutal repression.
Reports of “shots fired” at White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Within a minute, scattered across social media, lots of nasty shit.
Supporters of Trump, muttering about payback. Including KKK-esque posts such as “rope + tree + journalist + some assembly required”.
Those opposing Trump, expressing disappointment. Including idiots muttering about ‘mulligan’. (Slang for any informal do-over in golf, allowing a lousy player to replay a poor swing.)
Donald is very much a polarizing force upon American politics. But we all got to keep in mind, an important item of federal law.
FYI: if anyone ever threatens the person of POTUS it is a felony. Including wishing him to be dead.
So no, I will not ‘heart’ any posts about assassinating Trump, for or against. But please note my silence, not offering up a prayer for Trump’s safety.
Sometimes, silence speaks for all of our hopes ‘n prayers for how to build back better, that mythical America as shining beacon of liberty.
